The
Club at Olde Cypress is a 500-acre tract of land laced with 176 acres
of preserves and lakes. The community is located on Immokalee Road 1.3
miles east of Interstate-75. The gated portion of Olde Cypress consists
of less than 400 homes, although the Development of Regional Impact
(DRI)
allows for 1,100 dwelling units as well as other development. P.B.
Dye designed the private 18-hole championship golf course. An additional
13.6 acres of commercially zoned land allowing approximately 165,000-square-feet
of retail and office building development are included in the community.
The golf initiation fee is currently $70,000 and is 80% equity.
(Equity refers to the portion of the initiation fee returned to you should
you terminate your membership.)
In
order not to disturb the natural habitat of a variety of wildlife including
the Big Cypress Fox Squirrel, special care has been taken to blend each
golf hole through the preserves.
Nine
preferred builders have been selected to offer homes in the community's
12 tracts. Each home site will provide a view of either the golf course
or the preserves, which are populated with pine and bald cypress as well
as other native vegetation.
The
20,000-square-foot clubhouse at Olde Cypress has been designed with a
Spanish-Mediterranean flavor. It will include a gallery of work by noted
Everglades photographer Clyde Butcher, golf shop, grille room with lounge,
ballroom, card rooms and sales and information offices. Other community
amenities will include four lighted Har-Tru tennis courts, swimming pool
and exercise/fitness facility.
The
developer of Olde Cypress is Paul Hardy who also developed The Strand
(1999 Community of the Year), Worthington Country Club, Quail Creek Estates,
Quail Creek Village and Longshore Lake.
